Back to the Grindstone
I took it easy last week and am glad I did.
We had a board meeting at the beach so after it was over and everyone was gone, I went for a 5 mile run. Saturday I cycled for 32 miles and my legs were tired.
But - with 5 weeks to go to next Olympic Distance Tri and my second attempt to become an Olympic Triathlon, I need to get back in the saddle/pool/road!!!
In an effort to deal with my dallying I will post goals for this next 5 week training session and my training plans for this week.
Goals for next training session:
(In order of importance, with goal one being the most important)
1. Learn how to swim one mile in open water.
2. Acclimatize to New Jersey summer.
3. Strengthen the run with some speed sessions.
4. Strengthen the bike with some speed sessions.
This week:
Monday: Swim then bike (p.m.)
Tuesday: Bike and run (a.m.)
Wednesday: squeeze in a swim (a very busy day)
Thursday: Short bike and speed run workout (a.m.)
Friday: Swim (a.m.) and bike (p.m.)
Saturday: Run long

Al,
Thanks. I survived the swim :D. The sharks didn't got me after all.
I was zig zagging all over the place. There is another guy in my wave that is just as slow. Some time i will be on his left. Sometimes on his right. And a lot of times we will bang into each other. In the last few yards, I just saw forget it and plow my way pass him and get back on shore.
I swim a lot with breastroke though. I need to learn sighting and swimming straight. This will be learnt by just doing it.
By the way, on fri, i went to do group swim with my coach. We have 10 ppl or so. The waves were strong. Almost white caps. it felt good. At first, it felt like a washing machine. But slowly i got use to it and LOVE IT.

Hi! Just checking in. I am trying to keep up with running and swim and bike, but I am totally not balancing. I am going to keep working on it. NJ summer is fun :) My brother is a life guard at Island Beach State Park and I hope to work out with him and the guards one morning when I get home for a visit. I may have to keep the fact that I am his sister hush-hush, in case it takes me way too long.
